Writing in the social sciences is often an original research report or a review of writing on a particular research topic. Research reports in the social sciences may include a "review of the literature" section -- placing the project in the context of previous research -- and/or an abstract -- a paragraph providing readers with a quick overview of your essay.

The sample paper in this section is a "review of the literature" documnented with APA-style citations and references. An abstract is not included because the instructor did not require one.
